With the Bruins preparing to get back underway after the Olympic break, management has decided to call up both goaltender Niklas Svedberg, as well as forward Matt Lindblad from Providence. Both guys practiced on Monday morning with the B's, alongside Zdeno Chara and David Krejci, who have returned from the Sochi games.
Svedberg has pulled on the spoked B once this season, giving up just two goals on 35 shots (.943 save %) in the Bruins first victory of the new year, back on January 2nd. Following the game, B's management seemed impressed with his performance. Down in Providence, Svedberg has played pretty well, posting a 20-11-3 record, alongside a .910 save percentage and a 2.71 goals against average.
Meanwhile, Matt Lindblad has played well for the Providence Bruins as well. The 5'11" forward has scored 7 goals, and has recorded 11 assists in 37 games this season, practicing once with the B's last week. The Dartmouth College (ECAC) alumni skated on the B's third line, alongside Chris Kelly and Daniel Paille on Monday, according to Dan Cagen of the MetroWest Daily News.
The B's resume their season on Wednesday, when they face off with the Sabres. (check out the post-Olympic preview here, via Bruins Life's Billman DeCosta.)'
