Report: Dallas Stars interested in Joe Thornton

After yet another disappointment in the playoffs by the San Jose Sharks, Joe Thornton's name has been brought up in many trade rumors. The team could be looking to shake things up by moving some of their big-name players, but it is ultimately up to "Jumbo" Joe whether he stays or goes, since he possesses a No Movement Clause in his current contract. If Thornton decides to move on from the Sharks and get traded for only the second time in is career, the Dallas Stars could be an option. According to Sharks insider Kevin Kurz, the Stars are interested in the 34-year-old center.

Imagine the top two centers in Dallas being Tyler Seguin and Joe Thornton? It would be painful for Bruins fans to see, but that is a scary good one-two punch on offense. Thornton decides his fate, but a change in scenery could be a positive change for him, as his leadership in San Jose is being questioned. He is still producing at a high rate, putting up 76 points in 82 games this past season, but the lack of playoff success could be enough to drive him from the Sharks. The Stars were also eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, but are a team on the rise, and Thornton could be the missing piece to the puzzle.
