Jason Spezza traded to the Dallas Stars

The first big move has been made on the first day of free agency, but it doesn't involve free agents. The Ottawa Senators have sent Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson to the Dallas Stars for Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul, and a 2nd round pick in 2015.

Senators GM Bryan Murray had been searching for a deal ever since Spezza requested a trade after the season. Receiving Alex Chiasson in the trade adds a young, skilled right wing to the Senators lineup. Chiasson scored 13 goals and 22 assists in his first full season in the NHL, but will continue to improve.

Stars fans are in for a treat this season with the addition of Spezza. He is still an offense force to be reckoned with in the NHL, scoring 66 points in 75 games for a struggling Senators team last season. They now have Spezza and Tyler Seguin as their top two centers; that's some serious fire power to go along with Jamie Benn and Valeri Nichushkin.

Look out. The Dallas Stars just got a whole lot better.
