    Jarome Iginla signs with Avalanche

    (Greg Thompson)

Sad to say that our prayers to the Hockey Gods have not been answered. Jarome Iginla's time in Boston is over after just one season. He has signed a 3-year, $16 million contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

It's disappointing that this had to happen. Iginla was one of the top performers on the B's this season, tying Patrice Bergeron for first on the team with 30 goals. He wanted to stay with the Bruins, and the Bruins wanted him to stay, but it just couldn't happen with the current cap situation. The Bruins' top line will need a new right winger for the second straight year.

It would've been nice to see Iggy raise the Cup in Boston. Sigh.

    Your move, Chiarelli.
