The NHL announced today that Tuukka Rask has been named January's Third Star of the Month.
After a start of the season that was certainly un-Tuukka-like, Rask has brought his A-game,, having only one regulation loss for the entire month of January. In 11 games, Rask has a 1.64 goals against average, letting in only 18 goals and making 336 saves. His save percentage to close out the month was .949. To date, Rask has a 22-11-7 record, including two shutouts - most recently against the New York Rangers on January 15.
Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin and New York Islanders John Tavares were named first and second Stars of the Month.
