    Give Tuukka a break

I stated before the season that if the Bruins win a cup this year, it will be because Tuukka Rask stepped up and played like one of the best goalies in the NHL. Thus far, he is proving to be up to the task.

In 3 games, Tuukka has stopped 75 of 81 shots, a .926 save percentage and 1.95 GAA. That is the type of goaltending that will keep the Bruins in contention until season's end. But Claude Julien needs to keep in mind the Tuukka has not been the most durable player throughout his career, and is injury prone.

Despite the fact that it is a short season, Tuukka is going to need nights off and significant rest during the year to make sure he is healthy in the long run. It's also important to get Anton Khudobin some solid time in net in case Rask does go down with an injury as he did last year.

After three tough games, including two where he was forced to work overtime, Tuukka is due for a night off. It will be interesting to see what Khudobin is capable of and if he is going to be a reliable back up going forward.
