Boychuck taken off on stretcher after boarding penalty from Pacioretty

******UPDATE: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli released through Bostonbruins.com that Johnny Boychuck was transported to a Montreal area hospital and "was able to move all of his extremities."

And from a less official source, what seems to be Boychuck's brother, Sam Boychuck, released a couple of tweets, one thanking fans for their thoughts on JB55, and the other stating "sounds like a jarred lower back...sounds like spasms scary."

This is far from an official source, and nothing has been confirmed from a team source whatsoever. We'll still wait for an official diagnosis on Boychuck's status.  ******

Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuck was taken off on a stretcher early in the first period after being on the receiving end of a Max Pacioretty minor boarding penalty.

It was not a malicious hit, but Boychuck did hit the boards at an awkward angle.

Since Boychuck was resting with his fists on the ice, it didn't seem to be an arm/wrist injury.

Many speculate the injury to involve his ribs or mid-body.

NESN's Jamie Erdhal reported with a few minutes to go in the first that Boychuck was taken to a Montreal hospital for evaluation.

We'll provide more information as it is released by the team.
