    Stanley Cup Champs

    Bruins Home Opener Preview

The Bruins have their first home game tonight after a somewhat embarassing season opener versus the reigning Stanley Cup Champs, the Florida Panthers. I honestly almost wrote that it was just the season opener. Throw everything from the game on Tuesday out the window. Poof! It's gone. (FYI I don't condone littering). There's no reason to talk about how flat they looked, or that Korpisalo couldn't make a save. Ten minutes into the game I found myself , "Serenity Now!" "Serenity Now!"
Tonight the Bruins welcome the Montreal Canadiens to TD Garden in hopes to notch their first win. The Habs are on the second leg of a back-to-back after beating the Leafs 1-0 last night, in Montreal. It's hard to give any analysis or really talk in depth about hockey-season at this point of the year.Hockey's first two weeks to the first month of the year look wildly different from December to February, which also looks much different from March, which is different from the end of May. You get my point and this is Game Two of the season.

It's an adjustment period for teams who have added players, or teams who lost crucial guys. The Habs would never have thought they'd sign Patrik Laine, a solid forward in my opinion, only for him to get injured in a preseason game and likely miss the whole season. The Bruins likely didn't expect to sign Jeremy Swayman less than a week before the season and then get dog-walked by the defending champs on national television in game one. Things happen this time of the year that a completely unexpected.

Regardless, this will be a fun game. Swayman makes his season debut, theres great players on both sides of the ice, and this is a rivaly game. It doesn't matter if its game two of the year, game 56, or in the playoffs. It doesn't matter if one team is breaking records and the other is last in the Atlantic. These teams always play competitive and provide great entertainment. I think the Bruins will get their first win tonight, let's say 4-2 with an empty netter. Give me another Pasta goal, a goal from Chuck Coyle, and a Lohrei assist. (Not gambling advice, I dont think I can do that on here, but thats all going to happen).
