One Simple Request to Fix the Bruins

    ESPN+ Screenshot

It's no secret that the Bruins have had a rough start to the season. They have been playing sloppily, spending too much time in the penalty box, and are struggling to capitalize on scoring opportunities. However, this situation can be reversed, and the season doesn’t have to continue on this downward path.

If you check social media, you’ll find calls for the Bruins to start selling off players and for head coach Jim Montgomery to be fired, all after just ten games of an eighty-two-game season. It's absurd—let's take a step back. I believe I've come up with a much simpler and more effective solution to elevate this team to success.

I have seen enough and I am now asking the NESN (maybe also the Bruins?) to cut ties with Ford Motor Company. Ford hasn't done anything wrong, but there is a consistent pattern of bad aura that comes with the branded Ford sponsorship. Make no mistake, this is not a demand, nor will I be boycotting my favorite team, if they fail to comply with my request.

This has been a toxic relationship for years. However, I want to focus on the most recent two seasons where it has reached it's pinnacle. Last year, NESN had the "Ford F-150 Final 5" for the last five minutes of the game. A harmless sponsorship at first sight, but I have connected the dots. I see through the smoke and mirrors. The Bruins were notoriously known for blowing leads last year, specifically in the third period. The Bruins blew the fourth most leads in the 3rd period, totalling 11 blown leads, only behind Blue Jackets, Islanders, and Sharks. Pretty damning evidence if you ask me.

Now this year, we have the "Ford Bronco Horse PowerPlay." I bet you can guess how thats working out. The Bruins currently have the worst powerplay in the NHL at 14.8%. That's simply not good enough for a PP unit with Pasta, Marchand, McAvoy, and new addition Elias Lindholm. They've scored six goals on twenty-seven powerplay opportunities this year so far. There majorly struggling to even get the puck in the zone, let alone get the PP set up to attack. Again, not great Ford!

So, as I sit here going full Charlie Kelly, conntecting this situation with the partnership of Ford Motor Company, I ask you a few questions. Is this sponsorship with Ford worth the success of this team? Should the Bruins powerplay suffer because of one vehicle's attempt to escape the lasting image of the most famous police chase of all time? And to Ford, let me ask you a question now. Wouldn't it be better being tied to that police chase rather than being associated with the disgusting act of the Bruins PowerPlay right now? Some food for thought, but I think we may have found the solution.
